AN ARTISTIC JOURNEY THROUGH THE DISPLAY WINDOWS OF CESAR’S FLAGSHIP STORES AROUND THE WORLD
This year, Cesar celebrates the holiday season with a project that blends creativity, art, and the festive spirit. The Holiday Village Project is an artistic initiative organised by Cesar, which gets local communities involved in decorating the display windows of the company’s flagship stores – a project in which contemporary art meets design to celebrate the beauty of Christmas, in all its nuances.
THE PROJECT
For the Holiday Village Project, Cesar chose to collaborate with emerging local artists, who transformed the display windows of the company’s flagship stores into stylized Christmas villages. The characteristic architecture of the various cities blends with the imagination and unique interpretation of each artist, turning every window into a true canvas on which the artist expresses his or her own interpretation of the theme. Through these evocative pieces, the artists brought surreal worlds to life, strengthening the connection with the local community and treating both Cesar’s clientele and passers-by to a captivating experience.
THE ARTISTS
Cesar selected five talented emerging artists, each with their own distinctive style and personal vision of Christmas.
MILAN – Joanne Elizabeth Shipp
The British artist, who has lived on Lake Como since 1992, created a Christmas village for the brand’s display window in Milan that incorporates a silhouette of the Duomo, an iconic symbol of the city. Known for her background in the fashion design industry and for her pieces displayed in numerous international galleries, Shipp now creates bespoke creative experiences in the luxury sector, as well as live interactive paintings during prestigious events.
PARIS – Bianca Gelmetti
The design chosen by artist Bianca Gelmetti celebrates the home of the Eiffel Tower with a fresh and poetic look that reflects the style of her illustrations. Bianca, born and raised in Paris until the age of 8, later moved to Italy, where she began her artistic career. Having returned to Paris three years ago, she continues to explore her vision of the world through art. Her depiction of Christmas uses simple and emotional drawings to immediately evoke the joy of this most beloved holiday.
SEOUL – Ahn YuJung
The young artist Ahn YuJung, with a degree in traditional Korean painting, decorated the display window in Seoul with the delicacy, precision, and unique personality of her country’s culture. Through the use of thin lines, varying in thickness and inspired by the style of ancient Korean paintings, her illustrations blend the Western spirit of Christmas with typically Eastern atmospheres, visually representing the delicate balance between tradition and innovation that characterises this Asian country.
VANCOUVER – Megan Bridge
Canadian artist and designer Megan Bridge, known for her experimental and multidisciplinary approach, incorporated the city’s skyline and the snow-capped mountains that surround it in her design of the Vancouver Christmas village. For the occasion, Bridge, co-founder of Stooludio, a design studio that merges craftsmanship with digital technology, chose a rapid and spontaneous style, evoking the childhood anticipation of Christmas.
PRAMAGGIORE – Nicola Grotto
Venetian artist Nicola Grotto chose a modern reinterpretation of Christmas for Cesar’s Pramaggiore location. Employing a fast and immediate technique, typical of his street art background, he brought to life a magical Venetian setting, remaining true to the spontaneous realism that characterises his artistic style.
The Holiday Village Project invites everyone – clients and passers-by alike – to embrace the festive spirit and rediscover their city through the eyes of the artists who live in and love it. With this project, Cesar celebrates culture, art, and personal well-being, a core value for the company, whose mission is to design kitchens that enhance people’s quality of life.
